I’m TT Ngo, co-founder of Pho & Fresh Vietnamese Kitchen in Sykesville, Maryland—and this is the Hang family’s journey from the Mekong Delta to Main Street.

Roots in Vietnam

My mother, Hong Lien Ngo, raised my sister Chef Hiện and me in Bến Tre, where her weekend phở pots drew neighbors from blocks away. After relocating to Saigon, we ran a tiny alley-way cơm tấm shop that taught us the power of fresh herbs, slow-simmered broth, and genuine hospitality.

A Promise to Reunite

Life separated us:

  • Chef Hiện headed to France, mastering classic culinary techniques.

  • Mom and I immigrated to Maryland, where I balanced nursing school and long hours in the nail industry—saving every dollar to open a future Vietnamese restaurant.

My husband Vinny Hang joined the dream, and together we explored food cultures from Dubai to Iceland to Japan, searching for ways to blend healthy dining with traditional Vietnamese flavors.

Phở Comes Home to Sykesville

Twenty years later, Chef Hiện returned—with her daughter—so our family could keep its promise. Alongside our own daughters Kalia and Mila, we opened Pho & Fresh—today recognized as a go-to spot for fresh, healthy phở in Sykesville.
